Giving Room #7 a facelift

The first picture shows a completed job on Room#&.

Room #7 has received a new look. I'm like this room much better. I had all the top pannelling removed and the walls redone. The bottom pannelling was painted for a wainscoting look. I painted the top colour a "Tibetan Blue" and the bottom a decorators white.

This room has a calming effect.

Hello, there

I'm not really a Mad Innkeeper, I'm actually a nice person. I'm the one with the teapot.

This was a photo of some friends and I who were doing a photo for our local paper for the Cenntenial Celebrations in July 2010.
These two ladies are great friends. Pat who sits in the centre was a guest at one time at The Old Courthouse Inn and now is a resident of Powell River.

Check out this new facebook page I created. This all started with wanting to do something creative to showcase Powell River and its beauty.Its only been 4 days and the response has been great. I went for a walk through Willingdon Beach Trail with the red chair on my hip in Powell River, B.C. yesterday and the looks and responses I received were quite funny. Here are some things people said: As, I walked the trail I told people I was taking my chair for a walk. A few chuckled and said i wondered why I had a chair. I had a few funny responses.*** "I was wondering why you had a chair? That is up there as one of the oddest things"
:***"Some people take dogs for walks but I guess some take chairs for walks, to each their own"***
One lady said"At least it doesn't pooh". No mess."
***"I was thinking did that chair fall from the sky" Lol!!!

The Centennial Celebrations were a success.

The Centennial Celebration was a success. The Parade was my favorite part. I dressed my kids as delivery paper boys from the 30's/40's. I dressed my 1955 Ford Station Wagon with luggage on top and I dressed up from the 50's.

It was so great to see the community out to show support and enthusiasm for the folks in the Centennial Celebrations Parade.

The fesitivites then continued on to Henderson park with games, food and music.

Later in the evening it was the Papermakers Ball where everyone was encouraged to dress up from any era in the last 100years.

Great food, great friends and music.

High Tea and Fashion

The High Tea and Fashion Show held at one of the most beautiful community halls I have been in the "Dwight Hall". The gowns, outfits shown were definatelly a step back in time from the Titianic era, 30', 40's, and 50's. I have always had an appreciation for vintage clothing and have my own small collection. I sat amongst friends we chatted briefly about how so many memories were probably being evoked by the collection.

Marbles and Memories

This morning I sat having tea with 2 dear friends and I had asked them if ,they remembered how to play marbles as kids. They proceeded by telling me each of their versions of the game.

Tom said "I remember kids lining up on eather side of me and all shooting a marble across to other kids about 5 to 8ft away.
Rod said "I played in sand, dirt it didn't matter where." I used to play in a cirlcle and then you would try knocking the marbles out and you got to keep the marbles.
Their expressions showed how fun it was for them and it was obviously bringing back childhood memories.
